Lent is about realizing that all the vanities we think we need shall pass away "like rain on the mountains. Like wind in the meadow." Lent is about continuing our daily repentance and rebirth into a new creation in Christ. Lent is about renouncing attractive but empty promises. Lent is about uprooting whatever we mistakenly put in God's place in our lives. Lent is about keeping the silence that allows us the hear the quiet truths that God whispers to us. Lent is about willingly entering our desolate places, and plainly see the demons that dwell therein. Lent is about living in the shadow of the Cross that changes everything. Lent is about taking a moment of contemplation of the sacred mysteries. Lent is about acknowledging the want and longings that we might not dare admit otherwise.
We are from dust and to dust we shall return. Jesus is our hope.
